Safety is my top priority!
Naked newborns will pee and poop on everything. Relax! Baby will be cleaned and moved, and all of the blankets and props will be thoroughly washed.
SAFETY:  Baby's safety is the number one priority.  One or two family members must be present at all times and responsible for the baby. Baby will never be put in a compromising position to achieve a certain pose; composite photography is the art of blending two separate photos together in post-processing to create the final image. Thus baby's head and neck are always safely supported. Liability insurance is maintained for potential accidents such as someone tripping over photography equipment or damage to the home. As a healthcare worker and photographer, I maintain all vaccines including Influenza, TDAP, MMR, Hepatitis, Meningitis, HPV, Covid-19, in addition to annual screenings for Tuberculosis. Masks will be worn upon request.
PREPARATION: Family will receive a phone consultation and a list of tips to prepare for calm and fun photography session via email. Feel free to send me a link to your Pinterest board of favorite poses or ask for advice on colors and clothing. Just remember, it takes a fraction of a second to capture an image. Even when it seems like your baby has cried the entire time, in reality I have caught that sweet yawn or that sleepy smile on film to enjoy forever. The best thing you can do to prepare for your photo session is to take a deep breath and relax! Ultimately your baby is in charge of which poses we will capture.
TIME: Newborn sessions will be scheduled tentatively for 5-12 days after your due date. Sessions should take place after any jaundice disappears. You can expect a full-package in home newborn session to last several hours. Most of this time is spent feeding, changing, and soothing your child. It's best to schedule the initial session for the morning, in case we need to take a break and try again in the afternoon. Natural sunlight through the windows is beautiful, but my portable studio lighting looks great and is much easier to control than the clouds and sun!
